Explore the Castle’s beautiful grounds!GROUNDS
The grounds and keep are open from 10.30am – 2.30pm daily, however tickets will need to be purchased online.
There is a very informative audio tour available (it is in an app that has currently only been developed for android )
The river walk steps are closed and customers are advised to take care when walking about the grounds.

Appleby Castle has 27 acres of beautiful grounds for you to explore. The grounds are home to our 2 ponies, doves, buzzards and endangered Red Squirrels.

CHILDREN’S TALE TRAIL
We have been on a quest with local writer, Anja Phoenix, to create a new adventurous Tale Trail for the grounds of Appleby Castle. Families can enjoy the trail for free with paid entry into the castle grounds….and there is a prize too for each brave adventurer!
