Perfect for filming period dramas

Aerial view of Appleby Castle and the Norman Keep in Winter

Appleby Castle is the ideal setting for a photographic shoot or filming. Set in 27 acres of private land at the foot of the Pennines, Appleby Castle is steeped in history and would lend itself to a period drama. The Castle features 64 rooms including two halls and very high ceilings throughout. The interior of this grade one listed Castle has been sensitively redecorated to a very high standard in the style of a 17th century home with ancient monuments attached, such as the round tower or dungeon. The Norman Keep is one of the few remaining stone towers in England and little has changed with this building in over 900 years.

There are several outbuildings, including two lodges, a quadrangle stable block, an over grown walled garden, a bird aviary and animal area nestling alongside the River Eden. The scenery is spectacular and memorable. There are two large secure car parks located in the grounds. This castle has only recently become available for filming and is an opportunity not to be missed.

Please contact the management to make an application for a photoshoot or filming. There is a fee for this service.
